Molesey Musical Theatre learnt in November 2020 that Vine Hall, the Community Hall that has been used for 50 years by MMT for its rehearsals, and for much of that time as a Performance venue, is to be sold off by Elmbridge Borough Council (EBC) for affordable housing. Vine Hall is currently the only Public Hall generally available for Community Groups to use in Molesey.

Support for the Save Vine Hall Campaign has grown and a Business Plan is to be presented on 31^st March to EBC to create a Community Management group. A Committee has been formed and already has a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, and additional members. What is needed now are people to use Vine Hall to create income and cover the running costs.

The Committee need to get an idea of anyone who would want to hire Vine Hall, particularly on a weekly basis. Can you please ask around/post a message, spread the word…. And to get people to contact the Save Vine Hall group if they’re interested in future bookings

Based in Molesey, Surrey and the surrounding area, we try and stage two productions a year, usually one in the Cecil Hepworth Playhouse, Walton-on-Thames and one in the Vera Fletcher Hall, Thames Ditton.

• Surrey County Council Members Community Allocation Funding

Molesey Musical Theatre are grateful to Mr Ernest Mallett, Surrey County Councillor for West Molesey, for getting funding to purchase a Projector. MMT will use this in their forthcoming Golden Anniversary entertainment to project a slide show of previous productions. In future it can be used in productions to project slide shows and provide backdrops which will save valuable time and resources for a local amateur group. Mr Mallett provided additional funding from his Charity fund allocation at the Mole Hall Community Trust to complete the required purchase.
