To those of you who have ever had the yearning to perform in a Pantomime, this is your opportunity. Oh, Yes it is !! You can get involved onstage or backstage with Molesey Musical Theatre's next production Dick Whittington (with his cat).
If you could not get to the Launch Night on Wednesday 8 June 2022, please do get in touch with us if you would like to take part. Or turn up at one of our regular Wednesday evening rehearsals at Vine Hall, Vine Road, East Molesey KT8 9LF starting at 8pm.
You are very welcome to come along and join the cast, or to help with any other aspect of the production. Feel free to mention it to a friend and get them to come along as well.
Dick Whittington and his cat is one of the best known and loved pantos.
King Rat is the villain of this piece with all his attendant little rats. This gives a chance for many younger members of the company to have a stage roll for the first time. The stage will be filled with rats of all shapes and sizes.
Sara the Cook is the Dame with Alice Fitzwarren as Dick’s love interest.
Dick and his cat go from London’s Fitzwarren store, via the Saucy Sal ship, across the ocean to the exotic shores of Morocco, causing mayhem as they go.
As always the audience is invited to join in as much as possible. There are specific characters who invite them to do this yet still keep the story running forward. A couple of standard gags form part of the storytelling, together with a bit of slapstick and naturally one of the comedy duo gets bashed about a bit and a face full of flour.
Will Dick become Lord Mayor of London and marry the lovely Alice? What do you think? And again ?
Dick Whittington will be staged at the Cecil Hepworth Playhouse, Walton-on-Thames between Thursday 17 and Sunday 20 November 2022. There will be a total of 5 performances including matinees on the Saturday and Sunday.
Dick Whittington will be Molesey Musical Theatre’s Third Pantomime in recent years, following Cinderella in 2016, and Sleeping Beauty (Photographs adjacent) in November 2021. They were both a resounding success with audiences – young and old alike.
MMT are Fortunate to have James Fortune directing yet again following his success with Sleeping Beauty. The pantomime will contain an eclectic collection of jolly songs from several decades.
